Since my last post was so depressing (and the one before that wasn't exactly sunshine and roses), I thought I'd lighten things up a bit today.
Like many of you, I try to maintain a measure of anonymity on my blog. (You know, internet security and all. Oh, and maybe a shred of paranoia.) Therefore, rather than use my real name, I refer to myself as DC. And, in my posts thus far, my husband has simply been known as "my husband."
Many bloggers and chat room devotees refer to their husbands as DH (or "Dear Husband"). I have no problem with the acronym DH; however, I'd like to bestow upon my hubby something a little more creative.
Over the course of several days, I deliberated at length about the best nickname for my beloved husband, yet I came up with nothing. So I finally decided to meet and confer with my husband about how he would like to be known on my blog. During the course of our (clearly very serious and monumentally important) discussion, I informed my hubby of the common DH acronym and also proposed that I could simply identify him using the first letter of his name. Without pause, he suggested that he would prefer to be known as "SM."
At this point, I immediately thought of S&M and was certain hubby had completely lost his mind. I cringed as I meekly asked (fairly certain I did not want to know the answer) what SM meant. I was promptly informed that SM, of course, stands for "sex machine." Hubby then helpfully added that SM could also, in fact, stand for "stud muffin." That's when I started furiously scribbling notes.
As soon as SM realized I was taking notes in order to remember details so I could later report them on my blog (yes, I am now a true blogger), he panicked. He quickly proclaimed, "But my mother reads your blog!"
So . . . Hi Mom! In case you were wondering, your son shall hereinafter be known as Sex Machine (or SM for short). ;)

Hey, whatever gets the job done. :) That's what I say.
No pun intended. Ack.
I'm stopping by to say Hello. We're with Gladney and you left a message on my blog.
Jan
That's awesome!
Did he offer any other suggestions, I've been trying to think of some nickname for my DH for a while now.
Mr. Spit is going to be so jealous when I tell him. ..
I love it! I wish I had thought of something more unique than just "DH" too, but I never thought to ask the DH himself!
Lol. I'm going to try to think "stud muffin" when I see SM, but I'm afraid it's going to be "sex machine" that's engraved in my brain forever! :)
My husband and I had this big conversation after I started calling him j on my blog (which basically amounted to "how dare I bequeath him a blog name without consulting him first"). He said "it's like I have an alter-ego named j in blog-land, like I'm too important to be J, I just have to be j". I tried explaining that I'm alison not Alison and that he should be j and not J so we match. It was a highly intelligent conversation, so I totally understand. :)
This post cracked me up from start to finish. I can just picture your SM (that's the thing about a moniker like SM - you can refer to him as your very own). Anyway, I can just picture the look of horror on your SM's face when he realized his mom would read the blog. Priceless!
Ha! I love it! And it cracks me up that he was concerned about his mom seeing it. She might have an inkling already...
Hi. Thanks for stopping by our blog. I'd be happy to share adoption and Gladney info with you. Feel free to email me at mgrkej@yahoo.com
Heh heh heh. Very funny.
I call H 'H' because it is actually one of his many initials, as well as standing for 'Husband'. It is deeply uninventive and boring, but it has stuck now and H is doomed to be plain old H forever.
I love it - SM!
I will have to ask my husband if he wants a nickname too.
That's kinda cute. My husband chose T-Rex after his favourite internet comic. Can't get much geekier than that.
Sex Machine-SM Oh that IS good.
I tried to talk to my hubby about the fact that I mention him in my blog and OMG it did NOT.GO.WELL. He does not want to be mentioned or referred to in any way. So from now on I shall refer to him as "tiny penis"...
Just kidding - its of average size heeheehee
Too funny!
I'm in the process of starting a new blog due to a "security breach" and am struggling to come up with nicknames for my husband and my boys. Maybe I should just ask them!
Too funny! I'm still laughing and I needed it today. You'll have to share what his mom thinks of his new nickname.
Blessings,
Rebecca
love it!
Wow. SM. Hmm.
Kinda makes me want to stay single. Because my mom does read my blog, and if she ever read a similar post, she might freak (she also chooses to believe my bio daughter was akin to an immaculate conception. Right.)
Welcome to the blog world! If you have any ?s about Gladney, I am happy to talk- I cannot say enough good things about them!
Good luck in the journey to your family!
SM - loving it! But I'm not telling hubby - who, thus far, has been fine with his pseudonym: hubby.
Hey, thanks for stopping by my other blog (I'll let you figure out which one) ;-)

Ha! SM indeed. My husband, who I refer to as "the Mister," always reads my blog and gets happy if I mention him. Says that it validates his existence (as if his existence needs validating?)
*LAUGH*
Welcome SM to the world of being blogged about. Stud Muffin, Sex Machine - they both seem ok to me. :D
hilarious. hi SM's mom!
I don't mind using my real first name, but I tend not to and my husband doesn't mind that I use his, but I'm never going to last names. When I speak about other people in my blog, I try not to use their names, instead I use initials.
My blog was originally intended only for my family to let them know how we were doing here in Germany (and it turned out that my own family won't even bother to read it) and it expanded to what it is today.

I don't think my husband knows what a blog is let alone have any opinion about how he is referred to on mine HAHAHA
My husband thought that DH meant DickHead, a common insult here in Oz and suggested he should be LL for Latin Lover. Because he was born in Italy.
After I stopped laughing I blog-baptised him MM - for Mediterranean Marvel. Or it could be mere male.
You two are a riot! I love SM....very creative!
Have a weekend!
Loopie,
Again being the annoying little fertile myrtle that i am - i have to laugh. if my husband had missed the conception of our child it would have meant i got knocked up by someone else - our postman was always a fine looking man.
but you do win this round - i would have been ill as a hornet if my hubby were not there for that. you are a kind and sweet wife. i am not (lol)
That is priceless! I love SM for your husband.
You are cracking me up today! Love it! Thanks for the laugh!
hahahaha! He shall quickly learn that all such conversations absolutely must be blogged. :) (Catching up on NCLM now that I've moved and and have internet again.)
My boyfriend is going to be very sorry he didn't think of this when I asked him what he wanted to be known as on my blog.
I wanted to keep my husband sort of anonymous because we're using a donor and all (I'm nice like that). So I call him Sweetness. However, when he heard about the DH thing he began joking about "designated hitter". Yes, he's a baseball fan.
I love it!! And I am sure your hubby looks nothing like the pic (anonymity and all) but now everytime I read about SM, that is what I will picture!
That's a classic for sure! LOVE IT!
To cute!! I had a big laugh about that!!! He is hot!!!
Oh my dear goodness. I almost split my side from laughing so hard. Now whenever I picture your SM, I will see that busted pic of James Brown.
Oh man, that is fantastic...now you've got that song in my head--thanks ;0)
That really is too funny! I should ask my husband if he wants a special name. I am willing to bet all husbands want to be known as the sex machine. This is so funny. I like your energy. Thanks for your blog comment today. Does the DHEA work for you at all?
