Show and Tell

SM and I have been married for three years now and, much to SM's dismay, I have yet to order our wedding album. I know, I know . . . I'm a total slacker. I mean, we already paid (several thousand dollars!) for the thing, so I should get my rear in gear, right?

Well, I am officially committing to ordering our wedding album this week. But ordering the album means I have to make decisions about which photos are my favorites. And I love them ALL. I don't suppose we can have a two-hundred page wedding album, can we??

Anyway, since I've already undertaken the task of going through our wedding pictures, I thought I'd go ahead and share a few for this week's
show and tell.

Because I'm a crafty (and cheap!) do-it-yourself type, I made all the invitations, programs, place cards and favors for our wedding. I even etched a sailboat design onto glass candle holders to decorate the tables. You can (sort of) see the etched candle holders in this photo:

While planning our wedding, SM and I decided our main goal was to make sure our guests would have as much fun as possible. To ensure each guest was super comfortable, we provided baskets of flip flops for people to change into (you know, in case they wanted to really let loose):

As you can see from the following series of photos, at least one of our guests really let loose (and allowed his flip-flops to fly!):

Our friend's impromptu dance will forever stick in my mind as one of the highlights of our wedding. So . . . what are your favorite moments from your wedding? Do you have any funny wedding stories or pictures to share? I'm a sucker for wedding pictures (even if I am too much of a slacker to order my own)!

What a great idea - the flip flops!

The glass punch bowl cracked and broke at our reception after it had been filled with a bunch of frothy pink stuff . . . messy and memorable.

Awesome pictures! And the flip flops are a great idea.

At our wedding my brother gave an impromptu speech that included a reference to him seeing my husband put his hand on my butt...classy. And we told our DJ no electric slide, but when we got the pics, there were pics of people doing the electric slide! He snuck it in when we were both outside the ballroom!

I love the pictures - good luck figuring out what to order!
One of my favorite parts of our reception was my friend Michael getting drunk and scooting over the piano player so he could do his Julie Andrews impression and sing "The Hills are Alive"

I loved these photos. I will upload some one day
As for being a slacker, get this..
My dog died 3 months ago and I paid a fortune to have him cremated privately and put in a special urn.
Guess who has yet to pick up said urnfull of ashes? To top it off the vet is less then a mile from my home.

My husband and I handmade our invitations, too. They were little tiny scrolls and I tied them up with a pretty little ribbon and sent them out in tiny tube mailers. There was no way that someone could say that they didn't get an invitation--it was so obvious! ;)

I will be married 6 yrs in august and I NEVER got around to ordering our photos or album that we paid for. I received the proof book and never did anything about the other phonots. I couldn't decide.

My fav memory was dancing in my white flipflops til my feet were red and sore.

Weddings can be so much fun - looks like youwanted to make sure of that for yours!

We've been married 6 years and I haven't done my album either!!

Your wedding looks absolutely fantastic - ours was the best day ever, capped off by 2 of my (very drunk) girlfriends singing Meatloaf 'Paradise by the dashboard light' in front of all our guests - and they were fabulous!

Your pics are great!

I've been married 8 years and I got to keep all my proofs so although I got the album, I also got to keep all the pics I loved.

At my wedding, my BIL did a little striptease. We had warned the DJ that BIL was a wild man and DH said something to the effect of "if we're not careful he'll be stripping", well the DJ played a little striptease music and said it was dedicated to BIL from us so he did a little show.

To this day whenever I mention one of my BIL's I still get asked if "he's the one who stripped at the wedding". :)

What fabulous photographs and what a great idea to have flipflops at the wedding! I do think that so many people take the whole thing so very seriously and forget to have fun too!!

Incidentally my Show and Tell is about a wedding too - not mine as I'm not married! But my cousins wedding in Australia.

We've been married for 4 years and still don't even have a picture printed from the wedding. I've got all the pictures from the photographer on a CD here somewhere. I'm such a slacker!

Loved the flip flops BTW. Wish I'd thought of it!

Thanks for the show and tell!

What beautiful pictures!! I can see where you would be overwhelmed with only choosing a select few!

Maybe me & the husband should get divorced, so we can get married again, cuz I totally covet the flip flop idea!

Visiting from NaComLeavMo...thanks so much for your comment. Always good to connect with women who have shared such an intense experience. May we all find strength, peace and happiness.

As for show & tell -- what an awesome party! The joy is palpable. Clearly there will be lots of photos to choose from...you have your work cut out for you!

Oooh! So nice! I wouldn't sweat the album thing too much. I went bonkers putting mine together right after the wedding, and honestly don't think I've taken it out and looked through it once since then. Grrr...

I recall walking to the garden we were having our wedding at in the middle of NYC. On the way, so many strangers on the street shouted so many kind, sweet things to us -- made me feel so beautiful and special that day. I felt like the whole city was wishing us well that day, too!

You're right, I am a saint. :)

Your wedding pics are beautiful! But I'll have to one-up ya on the slacker business...I've been married 5 years and haven't done anything with our wedding pictures either. Our pictures were stolen from my husband's truck about 2 days after we got them from the photographer, and I just never really have gotten around to getting them printed from the negatives. I'm horrible! Good luck picking some pictures, that's the hard part. :)

What fun pictures! You can make a book of the ones that don't make it in to the official album with a service from Shutterfly or Blurb.

A memorable moment from our wedding day was when I was shopping for the oh-so-important slimming undergarment after getting my hair done. I'd left the one I purchased at home -- 100 miles away from our hometown, where we were married.

Great pics! I think the funniest part of my wedding was when I fell while doing a goofy dance with my cousins. I landed on my butt on the floor and just sat there smiling until everyone got all the pictures they wanted. :) ~LOL~

I just love those spontaneous pictures!

Frank and I broke out into a serious fit of the giggles in the middle of our vows. We could hardly repeat them.

Beautiful pictures. I think I would have taken several years to order my prints, too, except my photographer is so excitable about her work that she harassed me into making my selections within one month of the wedding. I had to pick my favorite 100, and then my favorite 300.

You will be glad when you're done!

Welcome to the slacker club. I still haven't made my wedding album yet either, three years later. I'm glad to see I'm in good company here! I love the flip flop idea!

Your wedding looks like it was tons of fun!! Love the flip flops!

I actually sat down with alllll of my photos this weekend to start organizing them (to eventually figure out my scrapbooking thing). I had our wedding photos in a cheap album, and I realized I wanted to put them in something nicer, an album that won't ruin them in 20 years. So that's my latest quest... Since we got married in Vegas I don't have tons of photos (which is the nature of getting married in Vegas, but it's still a little sad). I posted a few back in December if you want to check them out, though I'm realizing that none of those were from the photographer. Anyway. http://uncomplicate-me.blogspot.com/2007/12/ovulation-and-wedding-story.html

Have a good week!

HI! Got your post on my blog. Thanks! I'd be more than happy to talk to you about Gladney, if you are still trying to chose an agency. You can email me at: annehermes@hotmail.com.

Love the post. We are approaching our 6th anniversary and I have also never ordered wedding pics beyond the originals that I got from the photographer. I make it a goal every year and then it never happens. Now I am more focused on gettting more regular with my blog and cataloging my kids pics! :)

Oh, and I'd really like to ask you some questions about your journey thus far with IVF, etc... So, please do email when you get a chance and we can chat. :)

We had a caricaturist come to the reception and sit and draw all our guests. He did Hubby & I too, but the drawing vanished by the end of the night. Moral of the story: drink less!

What a beautiful wedding! We've been married for 2 years this month and I haven't even framed a photo yet!

I have a whole pile of favourite memories from our wedding. How crystal clear Husbando's voice was when he was saying his vows, the walk down Marylebone High Street with all of our guests and seeing everyone, including my gran, dancing to our first dance - Superstitious!

Thanks for the comments on my blog - its nice to meet you!
